ACEO Animal Trading Cards

I noticed a 12-pack of ACEO trading cards in the art store, and being as I've seen a lot of these on Ebay, I thought I'd give them a try. ACEO stands for "Art Card, Editions and Originals". ACEOs are very small, measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

I like the idea behind them because a casual art collector likely doesn't want to go through the hassle of matting and framing everything or keeping large albums. ACEOs are less expensive and you can trade them or collect them in albums, just like baseball cards.

I did these pretty quickly. It's fun drawing on them because they're small.

Panda

Panda ink and watercolor art on a Chinese food menu (great tasting food btw if you happen to be near Chippewa, Pa). Measures approx. 11" W x 17" H. The Chinese characters read "panda".

Squirrel

This is my rich squirrel hoarding his acorns. Cartoonish-style. Ink and watercolor, measures approx. 9" W x 10 5/8" H on watercolor paper.

Aikido

Still experimenting with different styles. Ink and watercolor, measures approx. 5 7/8" W x 9" H. Two aikido practitioners, flowers, bonsai tree, Japanese writing. This is done on the dedication page from an Aikido book that fell apart. I've always liked this quote:

Monk's Cafe Burger & Drink

Monk's Diner or Cafe burger and soft drink. Measures approx. 4 1/2" W x 4 1/2" H pen and watercolor drawing on white 9" W x 12"H 90lb acid free watercolor paper.

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn ink and watercolor drawing measures approx. 5" W x 7" H on 8 3/16" W x 11" H white paper. The scan of the dress looks almost brownish but the actual dress is black and grey.

Apollo

Apollo, son of Zeus. Original colored pencil drawing measures approx. 4 1/2" W x 6 3/4" H on 9" W x 12" H acid free 90lb watercolor paper.
